Independent developer

Enterprise-grade engineering with a builder’s eye for useful apps.

I’m Ray Carroll. I build secure Java and React applications, cloud-backed delivery pipelines, and thoughtful Apple-platform apps that solve real problems without wasting people’s time or trust.

What I Build

Strong technical foundations, not just feature checklists.

My background spans Java and React development, backend architecture, deployment automation, cloud infrastructure, security, and product-minded app development. I like systems that stay understandable as they grow.

Backend

Java and React application platforms

Java, React, Spring, Spring Boot, authentication flows, OpenID Connect, JWT, JWE, and the practical work of keeping enterprise systems reliable and maintainable.

Delivery

CI/CD that serves the team

GitLab pipelines, runners, automation, and release workflows designed to remove friction instead of adding ceremony.

Cloud

AWS infrastructure with real-world pragmatism

CloudFront, EC2, ECS, Fargate, ECR, Lambda, API Gateway, Docker, Linux, and the surrounding operational decisions that keep deployments clean.

Apps

Personal tools with a privacy-first mindset

Swift-based Apple apps built to be useful, direct, and respectful of user data instead of being bloated with tracking and noise.

About Ray

A long view of software, from enterprise systems to independent products.

I’ve spent more than three decades building software across a wide range of technologies and environments. That includes Java and React development, backend engineering, cloud architecture, developer tooling, operational automation, and iOS development.

These Apple apps are my private passion projects. I build them because I enjoy the craft of software development in the same way some people enjoy woodworking: designing, shaping, refining, and finishing something useful. This site exists mainly to support those apps and provide their privacy and support information.

  • Security-minded: authentication, identity, and infrastructure decisions that hold up under real use.
  • Product-aware: technical depth paired with attention to clarity, user trust, and practical outcomes.
  • Builder mentality: comfortable moving between architecture, implementation, operations, and polish.
Featured Apps

Small products with a clear point of view.

These apps reflect the kind of software I like making: useful, focused, and designed to respect people’s attention and privacy.
